6 rue St. Lazare ● Apartment Description
Because of its beautiful courtyard and classic Parisian exterior, you’ll fall in love with the apartment even before
stepping inside. Upon opening the front door, a foyer welcomes guests and offers several choices. Step left into
the spacious, open living and dining area. Go straight into the renovated, modern gourmet kitchen or right into
the enormous bathroom. Turn right into a spacious master bedroom that faces the courtyard, complete with a
four-poster bed. A second bedroom off the bathroom makes clever use of space with a fancy trundle bed, which
allows us to configure the room with one twin bed, two twin beds or combine the two twin beds to make a double
bed - it's up to you! Plus, don't forget the new, deluxe sofa bed in the living room. And rest assured of a quiet
night's sleep, as both bedrooms face interior courtyards. This apartment is loaded with amenities -- such as a
separate laundry room with a sink, full-size washer and a tumble dryer and don't forget the wonderful American-
style kitchen, designed by the previous owner who was a chef. The spacious Parisian bathroom features a huge
tub and large separate shower. Plus, plenty of storage for clothing and baggage will put you right at home in this
apartment.
In The Neighborhood
If you're a "foodie," you'll be in heaven here, with rue des Martyrs literally just around the corner. This amazing
shopping street is filled with fresh meats, cheeses, bread, pastries and cafes now made famous by the 2005 New
York Times article that described it "a slice of village life" that will "satisfy that perennial desire for discovery." Or
keep it simple: Just walk across the street from the front door of the apartment and you'll find a rotisserie
chicken traiteur (Maitre Vollaile) previous guests have raved about! Pick up a chicken on your way home from
sight-seeing and enjoy a relaxing night in. Better yet, experiment and find your favorite local treasures, off the
beaten path.
If you like to shop or just peek into windows at the latest styles and fashion, this is the place to be in Paris.
Galleries Lafayette, Printemps and the shops along Boulevard Haussmann are within easy walking distance. Also a
short stroll from 6 rue St. Lazare is the opulent Opéra Garnier, still a major tourist attraction in the city. Just a
peek into the lobby is worth the trip. A stroll to the south (about 15 minutes) along Avenue de l’Opéra takes you
to the Louvre and on to the River Seine.
Hop on the Métro
Métro line 12 at Notre Dame de Lorette heads north to romantic Montmartre or south to the chic seventh
arrondissement. Because this apartment is only two metro stops away from Gare St. Lazare, the entire city is
within a short train ride. In fact, four metro lines converge at St. Lazare, and for day trips to Normandy and
Northern France, traveling from here is a breeze.
Don't Miss the Bus
Just two blocks from the apartment you can pick up the 67 and 74 bus lines at Place St. George. The 67 bus is
a scenic line heading south into the 1st arrondissement before cutting through the Île de la Cité, but not before
taking you right past the Louvre. You can also take it north to Pigalle, where travelers can pick up the Montmartre
bus, which navigates the tiny streets of Montmartre. The 74 bus will transport you to ancient center of the city,
including Notre Dame and trendy the Marais.
Meet the Owners
This apartment was carefully chosen and decorated by UK residents Ron and Pauline, who head to Paris as often
as they can while keeping up with their two teen-aged sons. They hope you enjoy their vacation home as much
as they do.
